Ouité / Methine
Peer-to-peer communication organized around a shared visual context.
An early browser-based product connecting two users through live video, file exchange, screen sharing and collaborative image annotation.
What made it different
A video call can become a shared workspace around an image.
The application connected two remote users. Alongside audio and video, they could exchange files and messages, share a screen and work with a fixed video frame or image. Drawings and comments could be associated with visible material and reflected to the other participant.
The preserved interface describes media sharing, snapshots, drawings, text chat and file transfer. The screenshot documents a published historical product interface rather than a later design mock-up.
Communication architecture
Different channels, different purposes
WebRTC carried real-time media and data between participants; WebSocket messaging coordinated sessions and structured collaborative actions. The code includes a chunked file-transfer path over DataChannel. Drawing and comments are a separate synchronized visual layer.
This is not a claim that every packet travelled directly between peers. Signaling and certain collaborative messages used the server.
Interface and interaction
The aim was to maintain a shared visual context during conversation, switching between a live stream, a still frame and image-based explanation without leaving the communication space.
Preserved scope and limitations
Historical client and server sources document WebRTC signaling, media controls, DataChannel file transfer and drawing/comment modes. Additional image-processing and mobile-orientation branches were exploratory and are not presented as fully verified product features.
The old browser requirements shown in the interface reflect the implementation period. Compatibility or security of a present-day deployment has not been tested; historic server secrets are not distributed with this page.
